Week Seven Blogging: 5 things you can't live without

This week, you are going to tell your readers a little bit more about yourself. Post a list of five things you could not live without, and give an explanation of why for each!

Here is my example:

Five things Miss McGowan couldn't live without

1. My family. My family mean so much to me and without them I wouldn't be the person I am today. I am so lucky to have them in my life, and without them I would be a bit lost.
2. My pets! I absolutely adore my dog Poppy and my cat Bella. They are really cute and cuddly, and I also love getting out and about when walking Poppy.
3. My friends. I have an amazing group of friends who I adore. They support me, keep me sane, and we have so much fun together. I really value having them in my lives. How boring would life be without good friends?
4. Coffee. I cannot remember the last day I did not drink a coffee! It gives me energy, keeps me awake and (I think!) makes me a happier person. Without coffee I would be tired and more grumpy.
5. My phone. Even though this might sound cringy, my phone is how I keep in contact with a lot of people, and without my calendar I would be forever forgetting my plans! My phone helps me feel connected to a range of people and helps keep me organised.

Week Six Blogging Task

Write your own story ending for this weeks blogging task....

"I was standing with my camera at the ready, peering through the hole in the fence. I waited and waited but nothing happened. Suddenly, I felt something watching me. My heart began to race as I saw a figure making its way towards me..."

First Aid: Responding in an Emergency

This afternoon Room 6 were fortunate enough to have Kirsty from St Johns come in and teach us what to do if we are faced with an emergency. We learnt, and practiced, each step of the DRSABCD - the acronym which steps you through first aid in emergency situations. Our CPR skills were tested on the dummies, and we also watched a defibrillator in action. We learnt that using both CPR and a defibrillator significantly increases the chances of survival of someone in critical need. Below are some pictures of us hard at work!

James Hargest Exchange

What an exciting exchange James Hargest was!! OIS were the triumphant overall winners thanks to the early lead we took, but the end result was 8-7 - it couldn't have been closer! A big congratulations to all those students who participated in the exchange, and those who supported their friends - it was a fantastic fun three days of sportsmanship, rivalry and new friendships made. To read more about Hargest, head to student blogs to read their recounts.

Below is a picture of some of Room 6 with the Hargest Shield, and a few actions shots from the competition.

Week Three Blogging

Write a 100 word blog post involving this picture. Consider these questions:

- Who are the two people walking together?
- Where are they going?
- What are the two lines down the middle of the track?
- Why was this path built and when?

If you are stuck, here are two different ways you could start your blog post:

1. "The boy was beginning to feel tired. They had been walking for hours..."
2. "Hundreds of years ago, the tracks were part of the city's busy train system. Now..."
