Week 5 100 WC

We are investigating feelings this week. In particular, I want to know about the angry you. The prompt that you must include in your writing is:
"… I was so cross that …"
Remember that cross is another word that means angry. Things to think about:
  • What gets you cross/angry?
  • How do you feel?
  • What do you do?
  • How do you move on from this feeling?

100 WC Extra Tasks

Here are two extra 100 word challenges. Use these pictures to inspire you and your writing. Happy blogging!

Sheep Eye Dissection

This week we began the hands on part of our Science Inquiry unit, The Human Body! This unit links strongly to our explanation writing unit this term and will be the inspiration for many of our pieces.

On Monday we investigated the digestive system and replicated the process with baked beans, sponge cake, and liquids to represent elements such as bile and enzymes. Miss McGowan did the demonstration without gloves much to everyones disgust!

On Tuesday, we dissected sheep's eyeballs in groups. There were a lot of oohs and aahs, breaks to get some fresh air for those who felt queasy, but most importantly lots of fun hands on learning! As we dissected the eyeballs we learnt the names of different parts, and some of their functions. Room 6 is looking forward to more dissections next week!

Assembly Video

Room 6 was on assembly this week and everyone put a massive effort into filming and editing for our video presentation. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be and as the video was exporting, it crashed. Room 6 students stepped up to the challenge and without rehearsing, stood up in front of the entire school and presented their writing pieces. Unfortunately not all of the skits could be performed in assembly, so here is the video for everyone to appreciate. A big thank you to Room 6 students for going with the flow, not stressing and accepting that we had to change plans at the last minute!

Elgregoe Show

On Wednesday morning OIS were lucky enough to see "You've Got The Power" by the Elgregoe Show. We packed into the hall and sat entranced for an hour watching awesome magic tricks and learning about how each and every one of us have the power to stop bullying and make a difference. Two Room 6 class members, Riley and Evah, were both chosen as assistants for tricks, and are pictured below! Not a bad way to spend a morning at school!!

Student Blogging Challenge: Week Ten

The Student Blogging Challenge has flown and this week is the final week! This week is all about celebrating and reflecting on what you have learnt.

Your first task is to complete a survey on the blogging challenge. Click here for the link to the survey. Please take your time to fill this out carefully, as it helps the wonderful creators of the blogging challenge improve things for the future!

Once you have done this, you need to audit your blog. You can either write a post reflecting on your participation in the challenge, or get a classmate to look over your blog, provide you with feedback, and then write a post reflecting on what they said. Then, post the URL to this blog post on this google form to receive feedback.
